BTM – Bridge to Muslims

To Our Muslim Friends!

We are honoured to welcome you here. Please give us a minute to convey an important message explaining the reason for what we do here.

Many of our team members are former Muslims. We have endured difficult times and struggles to find the truth in the teachings and person of Jesus Christ. But for the first time in our spiritual journey, we have finally come to peace with the almighty and holy God. We feel forgiven, reconciled, and accepted by God through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Thus, we want to share our experience and the way to salvation with our Muslim brothers and sisters.

All religions in the world, including Islam and Judaism, require their followers to hold a set of rules to appease their deities and attain favour with them. The responsibility is on the believer to work for salvation through good deeds. But the one and only true God, the creator of all things, says that “all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment” (Isaiah 64:6). There is nobody who can stand by his own righteousness before the holy God. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). In fact, one single sin is enough to lose eternal salvation and receive eternal condemnation instead (Romans 6:23). There is no way to atone for your mistakes through good deads as Islam and all other religion teach. If this were true, God would not be just nor holy.

Jesus also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves, thinking they were righteous, but who looked down on everyone else: “Two men went up to the Temple (in Islam, a mosque) to pray. One was a Pharisee (a devout believer like an Imam or Ulama), and the other was a tax collector (an unworthy person with faults and problems). The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed, “O God, I thank you that I’m not like other people, thieves, dishonest people, adulterers, or even this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of my entire income.’ (I pray five times a day, fast during Ramadan, give zakat etc.)

“But the tax collector stood at a distance and would not even look up to heaven. Instead, he continued to beat his chest and said, “O God, be merciful to me, the sinner that I am!’

Jesus tells you, this man, rather than the other one, went down to his home justified, because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the person who humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke 18:9-14)

Jesus warns everyone who believes that one can be saved by observing rituals and blindly keeping to rules and regulations. According to Jesus, such people are like “whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. They outwardly appear righteous to others, but within they are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness” (Mt 23:27–28). Often, religious people “preach, but do not practice. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they are unwilling to move them with a finger. They do all their deeds to be seen by others” (Mt 23:3–5). This is not what God is looking for. He is searching for “true worshipers who worship the Father in spirit and truth” (John 4:23). For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him (2 Ch 16:9).

Dear Friend, ask yourself this question honestly: Are you blameless before God? Are you sinless that you can face the holy God in the final judgment? Are you able to atone for your sins through your good deeds? – Remember that only one committed sin is enough to lose your salvation, for sin’s wages are eternal death and condemnation (Romans 6:23). Remember that all your good deeds are like filthy rags for God. Thus, Islam will not be able to save you. Your good deeds will not help you. Following religious rituals only lay heavy burdens on you that you cannot carry.

Jesus is aware of your desperate situation. Therefore, he invites you,

“Come to me, all who labour and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your soul.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

God knows that no human can stand sinless in front of his holiness and earn eternal life. So God came down to earth and took on human form in Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect and sinless life and took the punishment on himself, which we deserve for our sins. He gave his life on the cross to atone for our mistakes. He died on our behalf so that we may live.

Jesus says,

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” (John 5:24)

For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and not by your good works; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Eph 2,18)

This is the Good News:

God loves you so much that he gave His only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)

With a short and sincere prayer, you can tell Almighty God that you surrender your attempt to appease Him with your inadequate works but instead accept His gift of salvation through faith in the redeeming work and person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Here is a sample prayer:

Dear God Almighty and Holy,

I come before you as a humbled sinner. I am aware of my unworthiness and my mistakes and sins. I tried to please you with good works, but I confess that they will never be acceptable enough to match your holiness. If it were not for your mercy and grace revealed to me through your Son, Jesus Christ, I would be eternally lost.

I pray for forgiveness of all my sins in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe your word where it says that you offer me forgiveness through Christ. I accept your condition to believe in the Lord Jesus, his sacrifice on the cross, his death, and his resurrection after three days. Please take me as your child, cleanse me from my sins, and give me this promised eternal life.

I thank you wholeheartedly for giving me a new heart and spirit so that I can live a holy life according to your will and likeness. I receive this new heart and your Holy Spirit and give you my life instead. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amin!

If you pray this prayer with your heart, you are forgiven and accepted by God as His child. We rejoice with you. Let us know and contact us. We would love to connect with you and give you a special present.
